LES DEUX MAGOTS A L’HEURE BLEU

Restaurant Les Deux Magots in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Paris, April 2013
Editor’s note: The blue hour is the period of twilight each morning and evening where there is neither full daylight nor complete darkness. The time is considered special because of the quality of the light.

DUSKY LIGHT--L’heure bleu for me occurred while atop a double decker tour bus.  The casualness of the moment is reflected in my snapshot of my favorite restaurant in Paris: Les Deux Magots (two Chinese figurines).

The restaurant appeared too quickly and while fumbling with my Canon, I was only able to take this (shall we kindly describe as an) impressionist image.

But the mood of the hour—not quite day and not quite night—gave us another magical moment in Paris.

The restaurant is quintessential neighborhood Paris.   It isn’t five stars and yes, it’s a bit pricy and way touristy, but it’s ours.  Can’t wait to return—Thomas Shess.
