WHAT ZAGAT LIKES—Recently, the blog associated with the national Zagat Guide picked ten dishes they like from San Diego area restaurants.  www.zagat.com

The delicious winners are expected, but they do offer a few surprises.  And, for a Thanksgiving visit plan ahead.

The Zagat 2014 survey honors San Diego restaurants with both local and national connections, all scoring high marks ranging from 27 to 29 out of 30 possible points. Here's what to order from the reigning top spots:

CARNITA’S SNACK SHACK—No dish at this North Park eatery gets more attention than the triple threat pork sandwich, piled high with pork loin schnitzel, pulled pork and bacon.  Big time. 2632 University Ave., San Diego, 619-294-7675, www.carnitassnackshack.com
