The Washington Commanders want their proposed stadium to feel unmistakably like Washington. Designed by HKS, the arena would rise on the former RFK Stadium site beside the Anacostia River, returning the team to the ground associated with its championship years.
The exterior renderings show a continuous white colonnade and a sculpted, transparent roof. Its lower profile along the east–west axis is meant to respect views toward the Capitol and the city’s monuments. Commanders stadium design announcement The most interesting choice is inside.
Instead of dividing spectators with stacked premium decks, HKS proposes a single seating bowl sweeping upward from the field, with minimal overhangs. A dedicated “Wall of Fans” would give passionate supporters an imposing presence, with some seats planned at more affordable prices.
