GUEST BLOG / By Kate Callen, Journalist, Community Activist--As my “Neighborhoods First!” primary campaign winds down, it’s time to look ahead to the future. The people of District 3 have been very clear about what they expect from their city government:
— Sustainable human-scale growth with adequate infrastructure, including sufficient parking, to support new housing and new residents.
— Streets and sidewalks that are properly repaired. Neighborhood traffic that flows steadily.
— Clean air. Plenty of trees and landscaping. Open spaces for recreation.
— A transparent budget process. Expenditures that yield a sizable “return on investment." Revenues that are duly collected.
— And, most of all, a District 3 Councilmember who puts her constituents first by listening to them, responding to their needs, and representing their interests. The enthusiasm generated by this campaign — the yard signs, the flyers, the financial support — has sent a strong signal to City Hall that change is in the air.
Thank you for making that happen.
