DESIGN / ISLAND MAGIC

IBIZA MINIMALIST ON THE BALEARIC SEA

Editor's note:  Why is this featured.  Simply because it is an example of fine minimalist architecture.  The images were shared from Dezeen Magazine, the contemporary leader in online design/architecture and related trends.  Glance at this coverage as you would a face in passing trolley window in Piccadilly or San Francisco.  Catch a glimpse then itss gone.  Keatsian beauty in our time. Move on. --PillartoPost.org

What captures the eye immediately are the straight lines of Bellavista 11, a residence in white concrete by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos.  Those still lines counterbalances the raw face of Roca Llisa cliffs on Ibiza, a famed Spanish enclave rising out of its liquid neighborhood of the Mediterranean called the Balearic Sea. Jagged vs. linear.

A lone figure, a model or muse or talented actress, who is photographed throughout accents the project accenting the true purpose of what we're seeing: this truth is a home.  Let's pretend James Bond has allowed us to visit while his creators slave in London penning another TV series.  All of this is imagination n'est-ce pas?

The scale is immense because of its linear starkness. Concrete in white becomes pigment for a still life.  The home, a fantasy with canyons and mystery splashed on walls, ceilings and floors throughout by the midday sun.  Geometry as art.

Stepping down into the primary living space, a model walks the length of the terrace, her movement tracing the floor-to-ceiling glass that completely erases the line where the polished interior floor ends and the outdoor deck begins.

Further down the topography, the thin concrete shell juts directly out over the void, framing a stark contrast between the fluid posture of the model, the rigid white architecture, and the jagged, sun-bleached rock of the hillside.

At the absolute edge of the plot, a figure rests by the glass-walled infinity pool, where the massive structural overhangs cast deep shade over the bedroom suites below while the water mirrors the flat horizon of the Balearic Sea.  Imagine living here.  Imagine you have the means to do so whether it is a resort second or third home or  primary residence for a cinema star and her lifestyle.

Shaken or stirred Jamella Bond?

Well done Arquitectos.
