BUSY INTERSECTION.
There’s a free Container Planting Workshop being held Sat. Aug. 17, 11 am at North Park Nursery, 32nd & Thorn Sts.  Green thumber Russell Martinelli will show attendees how to select compatible plants, pots and make sure your arrangements thrive with minimal effort.  For those who linger after the presentation, North Park Nursery is offering 20 percent off on all planting materials, including plants, soil, pots and planting tool.   Go early and grab a cup of coffee at nearby Santos Coffee House or a lunch treat at Ripe Produce store.   Lots to do at that busy corner on a Saturday morning.

MORE DINING ROAR.
Foodie media is a twitter with owners Hassan Mahmood and Roy Ledo of Lion’s Share restaurant, downtown, announcing their new North Park eatery will be called Coin-Op Game Room.  Not open yet, but the new venture will fit in nicely at the old Take It Easy spot on 30th Street, across from venerable Caffe Calabria.

PARKLETTE
Speaking of Caffe Calabria, the much-anticipated curbside park or parkette is now open in front of the coffee house on 30th that’s located next door to Il Postino restaurant on 30th.

STAYING UP LATE.

Speaking of North Park, next Thurs. nite, Aug. 22, between 6 and 7 pm, there will be an “After Dark” experience as North Park shops will stay open late and provide entertainment in the ‘hood.  Promoters say more than 25 nearby shops, bars, café, restaurants and other businesses will stay open.   Parking at the big garage, entrance on 29th just south of University.
