WORLD ARCHITECTURE / 10 DAYS OF MODNESS

COOL IN THE DESERT.  Nothing says Alfred Beadle like the home he designed for himself.  Not necessarily on this year’s  home tour, Beadle’s home was recently published in the Arizona Republic.  The feature included this creative image by photographer Mark Henle.

PHOENIX MID-CENTURY MODERN TOURS AHEAD
If history repeats itself tickets for the Modern Phoenix Week home tour highlighting 1950/’60s architecture may be gone by the time anyone reads this as the highly prized ducats went on sale Feb.1, 2017.

But it never hurts to check.  And, if the home tour is sold out the event website has a huge menu of other Mod tours and events, including a tour of the famed Valley Ho Hotel by Paolo Soleri.

Paradise Gardens Tract, Phoenix, Arizona

One of the highlights of Modern Phoenix Week, the home tour on April 2, lets visitors explore Midcentury Modern homes in different Phoenix neighborhoods. This year, the focus will be the Paradise Gardens neighborhood, an area known for its Alfred Newman Beadle homes, reported Laura Latzko in the Arizona Republic.

“Beadle, an architect in Phoenix who designed the Case Study project Triad Apartments, is known for the openness, simplicity and elegance of his designs,” Latzko said.
