BRRRR! Padres Freshmen Make a cold day Starbucks Run at Wrigley

While the Padres were brewing up strategy to face the Cubs, a different kind of brewing was underway just down the block.

A beloved clubhouse tradition took the field in Chicago this week: rookie coffee duty. Whenever the Padres hit a new city, the fresh-faced first-years get sent out to fetch caffeine for the whole squad.

This time, Padres veteran Joe Musgrove played chaperone as he marched three rookies—Alek Jacob, Randy Vasquez, and Brandon Lockridge—down to the nearest Starbucks. And not just any Starbucks. We're talking about the Starbucks Reserve Bar at 3649 N Clark Street, a mere half-block south of Wrigley Field. It's the kind of place where your cold brew comes with foam art and your latte might just cost as much as a bleacher ticket.

Reports say the rookies were so overloaded with custom orders, double shots, and extra oat milk that fans might’ve mistaken them for baristas in Padres hoodies. If the team keeps this up, they might need to draft a few more rookies—just to handle the drink orders. Because it was really cold last weekend in the Windy City, one can only hope the coffee was hot, the cups had names spelled correctly, and nobody dared to ask for a venti pumpkin spice in April.

If you're wondering why Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove was picked to escort the coffee run, loyal Padres fans know the Musgrove family in Alpine, CA, own a popular coffee stop called Caffé Adesso, located at 1140 Tavern Road, Alpine, California 91901.

Cuppa Joe Musgrove knows his java.
