BEER & FOODIE ALERT—By Mike Shess, West Coaster Magazine—On
Saturday, July 18, Brabant Bar and Cafe is celebrating Belgian
Independence Day. While traditional Belgian food and beers (served in proper
glassware) are served year-round at Brabant, the pub is going crazy Saturday.
For starters, all bottled beer is discounted 20 percent between Noon and
Midnight.
Rare and Specialty Belgian draft beer will be served all day.
In addition to glassware set giveaways (take home a pair of
glassware when you order Hoegaarden, Beersel Lambik or Petrus 50/50), there’s
going to be a Julian-raised suckling pig (Speenvarken) packed with root veggies
and handmade sausage cooked low & slow; house-made blood sausage made in
house with spiced apples & onions;Monkfish & Leek Gratin (Zeeduivel),
Eels in green sauce (Paling in t’ Groen), and Shrimp-stuffed tomato (Tomate aux
Crevettes)
Wearing red, black and gold is highly encouraged.
