WootStout by Stone Brewing for Hop-Con 7.0. See July 18 below. |
Saturday, July 6 | Dueling Anniversaries, Part 1:
Whether you’re into colorful beer cans or Viking culture, there’s an
anniversary celebration for you. Fans of the former can attend Modern Times
Beer’s sixth-anniversary “powerslam” at its barrel-aging warehouse, complete
with 10 specialty-beer tasters, while Norse enthusiasts can imbibe from Viking
vessels and take home Longship Brewery’s first-ever bottle release at that
interest’s third-anniversary fete. | Modern Times Beer Fortress of Raditude,
3612 Kurtz Street, Lomaland, 11 a.m. & 4 p.m. (two sessions); Longship
Brewery, 10320 Camino Santa Fe, Suite C, Mira Mesa, 1 p.m.
Saturday, July 13 | Dueling Anniversaries, Part 2:
Unlike the soirees above, the two anniversaries being celebrated on this day
are under a shared roof as award-winning homebrew-supply shop, The Homebrewer,
celebrates seven years of success, and its ironically professional brewing arm,
Home Brewing Company. They’ll do so with a specialty beer, food from The Good
Seed Food Co. and…pin the tail on the brewer. Yes, seriously! | Home Brewing
Company, 2903-3 El Cajon Boulevard, North Park, 12 p.m.
Thursday, July 18 | Hop-Con 7.0: It’s the seventh
anniversary (gotta stay on-theme) of Stone Brewing’s simultaneous exaltation of
nerd culture, alternative celebrities and its double-digit ABV imperial stout,
w00tstout. This year’s edition will include 15 tasters from a varied list of
brews, including three specialty casks and a seven-year vertical of the
aforementioned honorary brew du jour plus event-exclusive beers brewed with
Aisha Tyler, Bobak Ferdowski and Drew Curtis. | Stone Brewing World Bistro
& Gardens – Liberty Station, 2816 Historic Decatur Drive, #116, Point Loma,
7 p.m.
Saturday, July 27 | Dueling Anniversaries, Part 3:
Duck Foot Brewing is releasing cans of its triple IPA and staggering the
release of specialty beers at both of its locations as part of its non-ticketed
fourth-anny festivities. But you’ll need a ticket for SOCIETE 7, the seventh
anniversary of Societe Brewing, which will feature unlimited beers—including
rarities such as the first-ever bourbon barrel-aged version of The Butcher
imperial stout—food from 12 restaurants and commemorative mementos. | Societe
Brewing Company, 8262 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Kearny Mesa, 12 p.m. & 5
p.m. (two sessions)
