Dear Friend,
Hello
again! This is Jeff Shaara, author, and member of the Alumni Board of the
American Battlefield Trust. In case you missed it, I had a live Q&A with Civil
War guru Garry Adelman a few weeks ago on Facebook. Hundreds of you submitted
your questions, and even more of you tuned in to join the conversation. Garry
and I chatted about historical fiction, my writing process, and my work on my
new novel, To
Wake the Giant, about Pearl Harbor, to be released May 19.
It
was wonderful to hear from so many of you. I enjoyed answering your
questions and talking about what I am most passionate about. Frankly, an
hour proved to be not nearly enough time for all that I had hoped to
cover.
So, I invite you to join me and my friends from the Trust again on Thursday, May 21 at 10:05 a.m. ET for a live Q&A on Facebook. I'll be taking questions again, so feel free to submit yours here if you did not get the chance to the first time around. I'll do my best to address as many questions as possible. Garry is threatening to quiz me about my life and my work, and that MAY be fun as well.
And
like the last event, I will be giving away autographed copies of my novels
again! This time, it'll be my brand new To Wake the Giant, about Pearl Harbor.
To Wake the Giant is the first of a series focusing on WWII in the Pacific. Like I mentioned during the last broadcast, my research for this story covered a number of memoirs, first-hand accounts of sailors, marines and soldiers, as well as civilians, who were in Honolulu at the time of the Japanese attack. I wrote it from a different perspective and included several key characters in Washington D.C., as well as key players among the Japanese — a very different perspective.
I
look forward to discussing my books, writing process, and any questions you may
have about my life and interest in history. Please submit
your questions and join me live
on Facebook on Thursday, May 21 at 10:05 a.m. ET.
Sincerely,
Jeff Shaara

When you submit a question, you will be automatically entered to win a signed copy of
one of my latest novel, To Wake the Giant, to be released Tuesday.
