NAT’L PRESS CLUB PODCAST AIRS AMERICANS HELD HOSTAGE
GUEST BLOG / By Adam Konowe, National Press Club, Washington DC--In August 2014, ISIS murdered James Foley, a young videographer and journalist with GlobalPost who was covering the conflict in Syria.
The terrorist group held him hostage for two years before beheading him, brutally recording the killing on video.
As a tribute to him, his parents Diane and John Foley started the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation to “advocate for the freedom of all Americans held hostage” and wrongfully detained. In the latest episode of Update-1, National Press Club Broadcast/Podcast Team Vice Chair Gemma Puglisi interviews Diane Foley about the work of the foundation as the ninth anniversary of her son’s death approaches.
They also discuss Americans still being held hostage overseas including Austin Tice, and The Wall Street Journal's Evan Gershkovich, as well as others in Iran.
Update-1 is produced by Mike Hempen.
