LE JOURNAL DE BIER / CRAFT BEER ALONG THE CANAL

Paris has a system of canals linked to the Seine River.  Le Bassin de Villette is such a waterway that flows through the trendy 19th arrondissement.  At 41 bis Quai de la Loire savvy craft beer tourists will discover Paname Brewing Co.   The brewery, tasting room, and restaurant have two decks for those sunny days and an interior that’s open from morning to the wee hours daily.  Interior décor is industrial chic with floor to ceiling windows offer views a canal that’s more Dutch than French in appearance.

The brewery offers its own beers which include the Barge du Canal, an American-style IPA with strong hoppy notes and a full body; the L'Oeil de Biche (Doe's Eye), a pale ale that's crisp and fruity and perfect for a hot day on the canal; and Casque d'Or, a cloudier beer made with wheat malt and featuring deep, spicy notes of ginger, bitter French hops and orange rind.

And, if you’ve been in Europe for a while and are lusting for a classic American burger then you’ve come to the right place.  Try the cheeseburger but make sure your party also orders a plate of charcuterie and or the beer splashed prime rib.  And, note the pizza dough is infused with malt.
