THE FOODIST / NO HITTER PUTS SMALL DRIVE THRU ON THE MAP

After San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove tossed the only no-hit game in the team’s 50+ history, his mom's small drive-thru coffee hut was swamped with new business.

That was a year ago.

Fans continue to drive out from San Diego to order a #44 cold brew with vanilla cream and to celebrate the team that doesn’t have much to cheer about since its World Series appearance in 1998. It’s called Caffe Adesso, 1140 Tavern Road, Alpine CA (30 miles east of San Diego just off of Interstate 8.

But Joe’s mom Diane, who owns the Caffe didn’t need the no hitter to boost business because Padres broadcaster Mark Grant [Cup of Mud small triple latte] is an Alpine resident and he gives the Musgrove’s extra on air plugs. It’s all good.
