IF YOU WANT TO LEGALLY BICYCLE ACROSS SAN DIEGO BAY BRIDGE FEES FOR THE EVENT GO UP TOMORROW

BIKE THE BRIDGE—It’s not everyday cycling enthusiasts of every stripe can legally pedal cross one of the most beautiful bridges in America.   But you have to register in order to participate in the 7th annuall Bike the Bay community ride.  Online registration ends 8-23. Here’s that link: http://www.bikethebay.net/registration.html

And, the entry fee goes up on Aug. 17 for the Aug. 24 event.

Bike the Bay Ride is a fun, non-competitive ride for cyclists of all abilities.  The 25-mile route passes through the cities of Coronado, San Diego, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and National City and finishes at Embarcadero Marina Park South with a festive celebration with food, entertainment and a New Belgium beer garden. Registration is required and entries do sell out so early registration is suggested.

Check the Bike the Bay site on facebook for details.

Join the ride and this FUN summer tradition! Bike The Bay supports local bicycling and raises funds for the The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, www.sdcbc.org, a non-profit organization that advocates for and protects the rights of ALL people who ride bicycles.

It is the utmost wish of this blog that the SDCBC will continue to urge ALL people who ride bicycles to obey the existing traffic laws.  It is in no ones interest to run red lights or stop signs while in a vehicle or a bicycle.  Equal protection of the law begins with a common sense approach to obeying traffic laws.  Stopping at all stop signs is a good reminder for bicyclists. Acknowledging, bicyclists
have a right to share the road is an even better reminder for motorists.
