URBAN EXPLORER/ PHILANTHROPISTS BILL/MELINDA GATES BUY KEN RONCHETTI DESIGNED SEASIDE PALACE IN DEL MAR

Del Mar is a satellite city just north of San Diego

Media reports have Bill and Melinda Gates adding a $43 million oceanfront Del Mar home to 300-acre horse ranch they already own in nearby Rancho Santa Fe.  The thoroughbred farm was purchased from former owner Jenny Craig for $18 million. 

Just in time for summer, the Gates' new 6k sq. ft. seaside home was last owned by Madeline Pickens, who had listed the home earlier in the year at a higher $48 million. The six-bedroom estate is on Ocean Front between 27^th and 29^th Streets. It was designed by San Diego area architect/designer Ken Ronchetti. 

The Microsoft Foundation (Gates was co-founder of Microsoft) recently donated $250 million to fight Covid-19.  Rumors are untrue that the World's richest man, Jeff Bezos of Amazon was shopping for a home in the San Diego area.  Bezos has already spent millions on a Beverly Hills estate and a collection of penthouses in Manhattan.
