Yep, Saturday
May 16 is Coach Joe Schloss Day in historic North Park. The community will honor iconic Coach Schloss,
who has coached youth baseball in North Park for more than 60 years.
A rally
to honor Coach has been organized by the North Park Community Association and
community leaders.
Come by at
11:30 a.m. Saturday May 16 as City Councilmember Todd Gloria, and Sal Giametta,
Chief of Staff for County Supervisor Ron Roberts, present Joe with
proclamations on the majors baseball field at Morley Field, on the far
southwest corner of Morley Field, just above the San Diego Velodrome. Special
appearance by the Famous San Diego Chicken, who will entertain the crowd.
If you
miss the celebration then be sure to offer good wishes by visiting AB Sporting
Goods, where Joe and son Gregg have been in business at the same location for
decades: University and Ray Streets.
Reminder:
On May 16th, 30th & University will be jammed as the
North Park Festival of the Arts kicks off at noon, but plenty of parking at
Morley Field for Joe Schoss Day!
