BICYCLES—This Havana Times 2015 photo contest entry is very well composed.  Its upsweep angle required some deft advance planning to capture the right moment.  Black and white added more drama.
THIRD ROUNDERS — Havana Times, Cuba’s English and Spanish online newspaper just announced the images that have made it to the third round of its annual photo contest for 2015.  The contest was open to all in five categories: Friendship, Workplace, Textures, Portraits and Bicycles.

Havana Times is allowing the media to publish selected images from each category.  Pillar to Post has chosen a sample of the entries that made it to the third round. Finalists will be posted when released by Havana Times, Editor Circles Robinson. Captions by Pillar to Post staff.

PORTRAIT—The photographer captured this Cuban youth as the bus was passing by his camera.  The window of this Cuban bus acts as a frame
TEXTURES—Opportunities for images as in this photograph are all over Cuba.  The lack of building maintenance over the decades gives rise to differing layers of fading plaster and paint.  
STREET VENDOR—Cuban shoe repairman works outside his closet sized shop somewhere in the heart of Havana.
WORKPLACE—Computers are prized in Cuba.  Often, as this picture depicts, one computer serves many masters
