FINALLY, A PLACE ON THE PLANET THAT SELLS FRESH DONUTS, FRIED CHICKEN, CRAFT COFFEE AND CRAFT BEER


One of the joys of living in one of America’s fun, hip and historic neighborhoods is realizing that this once dowdy part of San Diego is attracting creative new businesses that quickly add to the overall coolness.

Just one example is Street Car Merchants (4002 Lincoln Ave. at 30th)
www.streetcarmerchants.com/ in North Park.  Owners jumped right in about a year ago and opened a restaurant operation that covers all the hip food groups: killer fried chicken, craft beer and fresh baked donuts and cookies.

Also, there’s plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, plus next door is The Milk Bar, which offers hubcap sized cookies, fresh milk products and made in North Park ice cream.

The mothership offer several taps of locally brewed craft beer, plus they serve and sell Intelligencia Coffee (drip, espresso and pour overs), one of the nation’s top save-the-planet roasters.

We make 12 unique doughnuts everyday like our delicious Salted Nutella Stuffed, Strawberry Milkshake, Powdered Sugar Peach, Bumblebee Honey Peanut Butter and Molasses Maple Bacon are just a few examples of the innovative flavors we create.

Our Doughnuts are made from scratch everyday using the highest quality raw ingredients. We hand roll, hand cut and hand dress every single doughnut. No pre-made mixes here, we do things the old fashioned way and that is why we use the term “doughnut” because one taste and you can tell our creations stand out from regular donuts.

We only use Mary’s Free Range Chickens from the San Joaquin Valley in California. Mary’s Chickens are Air Chilled, which produces a better tasting Chicken. We like this method for two reasons. One, there is no water added thus keeping natural flavors and juices intact. Two, there is no use of Styrofoam tray packaging. We pay a premium to purchase this fresh, high quality Chicken.

We have this fine Chicken delivered 6 days per week and we individually inspect every single Chicken that we receive to insure the final product is the absolute best it can be before it gets to you. Our commitment doesn’t end there. Every meal we serve is Cooked to Order. In fact, we don’t even own a microwave, heat lamp, or freezer. We do things the old-fashioned way which is the freshest way.
