COFFEE GRANT UP FOR GRABS.
In partnership with Roast Magazine, San Diego’s Mostra Coffee will award a $5,000 grant to a small business that’s making an impact in the coffee industry and in their community.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, we have been seeing businesses left and right in our industry close their doors for good. It has been absolutely devastating,” co-owner Beverly Magtanong told West Coaster. “As not only [Roast Magazine] 2020 Micro Roaster of the Year, but a business that has been fortunate to continue to grow, we feel it is the right thing to do to help another small coffee business in need. It is part of our mission to uplift communities and to be the reason why people see the goodness in humanity.”

“The winner will be a small business that is able to demonstrate exceptional commitment to their employees as well as a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity,” Magtanong said. Any small business in the coffee industry (roaster, cafe, or other coffee-related business) with fewer than 100 employees can apply.

The prize also includes a collaboration roast with Mostra (with sales going to the winner) and other perks.

The submission deadline is August 15, with the winner to be announced on August 31. For more rules and information, Click here.
