Fine value Lodi, Calif., 2017 Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel, $17. Mid-deep garnet; 15.4 alc; black fruit, ripe grape nose, brambles; mid-plus tannins; full-bodied; long, hot, ripe grape bramble finish. Good quality. w/BBQ, burgers, brats. 16 UC Davis scale, 90 other scales. 




Napa value Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Durant and Booth, $11 (Costco). Mid-dark garnet; 14.5 alc; herbaceous, smoky, mint; mid-plus tannins; mid-body; some depth; black fruit flavors; long semi-hot finish. Burger, pizza, pasta, picnic wine. 16 UC Davis scale, 90 other scales. 






Gamay. Serve lightly chilled. 2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais-Villages Les Vignes de Lantignié, $20, Mid-ruby; red fruit nose; earthy, strawberries; dry; mid-acids/tannins; alc 12.5; some earthiness; long crisp finish. w/apps/cheeses. 15.5-16 UC Davis scale; 89-90 others.
