ONE PICTURE WORTH A 1000 WORDS / Paris

METROPOLITAIN—Classic signage for the subway system in Paris was designed by Hector Guimard, one of the leading lights in the Art Nouveau (circa 1880-1910) art and architectural movement.  This image is of the Cite stop on the Ile de la Cite, where one exits the subway to visit Louis IX’s Sainte-Chapelle and other sites.  Photo by Phyllis Shess, April 7, 2013.
