ARCHIVE / SUDS WEEK AHEAD / MIKE HESS BREWERS IN THE NEWS, PART 1

TRUCKING ALONG--Making the debut run of Hess Beer in cans, Brian Jensen, left and Greg Hess pause at Ray and University to catch their breath with only half a block to Brian's Bottlecraft Beer Shop.   That’s the mural on Wang’s Restaurant in the background.  Photography by Tim Stahl, West Coaster

Update: Beer reporter Peter Rowe penned a feature on Mike Hess Brewing's Grazias, the brewery's signature Vienna-style cream ale.  The article appeared March 27 in Night + Day, UT San Diego.
PART ONE: MIKE HESS’ NORTH PARK BEER TREK
Photos show a slice of what makes the historic North Park neighborhood so craft beer centric.   Mike Hess Brewing (south of University on Grim Avenue) just made its first delivery of canned beer to Bottlecraft Beer Shop (30th & University), a trek of about 200 yards, reports West Coaster, San Diego’s local craft beer magazine and website.

FIRST CANS OF HESS--Trek begins from Mike Hess Brewing.  Bottlecraft Beer Shop owner Brian Jensen is along to supervise the delivery.  Note no Clydesdale horses were injured during the compilation of this blog item.  That’s Greg Hess (center) with Mike Hess.

The delivery of the first Hess beer to be canned takes a short cut along the alley between Grim Avenue and Ray Street. Note: Can of Hess in Greg's hand.  Half a block later no can in Greg's hand.

Trek ends.  Rumors have it the hike was celebrated with a taste of the new Hess beer in cans, but that was not confirmed.
