Joanna Alm of Drop Coffee is Sweden's current Coffee Roaster of the Year |
Earlier this
month Stockholm based Drop Coffee’s managing director, Joanna Alm, won the
Swedish Coffee Roasting Championship that took place in her home town, the
Swedish capital. It was Drop Coffee’s third
straight Swedish coffee roasting title.
The coffee
roasting triumph in Sweden earned her air miles to travel to 2016’s World
Coffee Roasting Championships in Shanghai, China on March 29.
That’s not
the first award for quality roasting that the Stockholm based roaster has
earned. Previous years at the World
Coffee Roasting Championships, Ms. Alm, was the third place winner in 2014 and
a second place awardee in 2015.
The World
Coffee Roasting Championship is managed and produced by World Coffee Events, an
event management organization registered in Dublin, Ireland, and founded by the
Speciality Coffee Association of Europe and the Specialty Coffee Association of
America.
Drop Coffee
is one of Sweden’s more successful new business ventures. Operating as a coffee roaster and a café
since 2009, Drop Coffee does its roasting in Vastberga. Its only coffee bar is located at Wollmar
Yxkullsgatan 10 (metro station Mariatorget, exit Mariatorget, 20 meters to the
right of the exit) in Stockholm’s Södermalm neighborhood.
What makes
this a noteworthy item for PillartoPost blog is the fact American consumers may
purchase Drop Coffee’s whole beans via online to sample for themselves what judges
are calling the best roasting practices in the ever expanding world of
sustainable gourmet coffee. www.dropcoffee.com
