Last week we were with San Diego
interior designer Laura Birns at New York Design Week. Now, we’re back across the pond to Paris,
where she checked into Maison & Objet.
Along with
its international expansion, with Maison & Object Asia in Singapore and
M&O Americas in Miami Beach, Maison & Objet began to reorganize its two
Parisian editions last September.
M&O
Paris now offers a clearer perspective of three main areas: (1) Maison and its
wide range of interior decoration, organized into different worlds; (2) Objet,
the show’s concept store, ideal for retailers; and finally (3) Luxury, design
& interior décor.
Laura Birns,
a member of the Americans Society of Interior Designers goes to all the top new
furnishings shows on the planet. In her
most recent “Design Matters” blog she posted a gallery of what she considers
the best of show for 2015. Each week for
the next few weeks, PillartoPost.org
will feature creative designs from a different international show as
seen through the eyes of one of San Diego’s top design talents.

La Chance Climb
Created by
Polish designer Basko Trybek, this modular shelving system appears to be held
in place by the tension of the metal rods. The birch or walnut shelves are
beveled on all the edges.
Normann Copenhagen Ekko
Norwegian
designers Gunzler Polmar used traditional weaving techniques for this lamb’s
wool throw blanket, making the front and back identical. Ekko comes in a gray
version, as well as three other colorways.
NEXT WEEK: Hot design from London Design Festival
