Here’s a new restaurant our PillartoPost.org dining critic Holden DeMayo
has visited recently in our historic North Park neighborhood. We only publish places we like and
fortunately for all, North Park is in the midst of a new restaurant boom.
Si Amo Napoli, 3959 30th,
replaces one of my favorite bygone North Park dining spots. Il Postino has been replaced with first rate
Si Amo Napoli. Its owner, Flavio Piromallo, is a veteran of Little Italy
Italian restaurants. He’s worked
previously with the Buon Appetito clan and now is on his own. Look for cosmo Neopolitan cuisine here with a
full bar.
Excellent DIY Proscuitto e Mozzarella bar (3 cuts of meat
and 3 cuts of cheese, $20). Of course,
there’s the Carne alla Genovese, $27, which is braised bone-in short rib with
red onions and cabernet reduction sauce and ziti pasta. The tasty Margherita
pizza was a deal at $11.
While there I ran into actress Sophia Loren and good
news she hasn’t aged one bit. Give her a
wave when you drop in.
