So, on the first day of a vacation from our blog (after 11 straight years of not missing a daily post) Troy and Claire Johnson purchased the 73-year-old San Diego Magazine. I'm happy to report this because this editor spent many years working for and with San Diego Magazine on and off 1980-2007.
The couple has roots in West Coast media. She is an NBC affiliate and Johnson as a freelance food and restaurant writer, blogger, including long stints with San Diego Magazine as its main food writer and editor.
When the pandemic hit early 2020, the publication ceased publication only to return as mainly an online presence later in the year.
During my time with the publication, I didn't meet Troy, but he is highly respected and I can see him taking the first city magazine in America (non-New Yorker) to new heights of success.

Now, we return to our previously scheduled vacation.
