STARE AT THE SKIES

SPOT THE SPACE STATION—Life is full of affordable pleasures (even for a taxpayer) and one such pastime that’s simple yet fascinating is knowing when to look up to spot the space station as it soars over your house.

Lately, I’ve trained the neighbors to come join me when they see me on the sidewalk.  I tell them the International Space Station (ISS) is the third brightest object in the sky (moon, sun).  We’ve become a club.

Thanks to NASA’s “Spot-the-Station” alert system more than 540,000 ISS fans now receive computer alert as to when the next flyover will occur.
