Prohibition repealed, Dec. 5, 1933

THIS DAY IN BREW HISTORY / DECEMBER 5, 1933—On this day ended the period from 1920 to 1933 when the sale of alcoholic beverages was prohibited in the United States by the 18th constitutional amendment known as the Volstead Act.
The 21st amendment repealed the era known as prohibition.   Unknown saloon scene captures the mood of the country after hearing news of the repeal.
