AVIATION'S TOP KILLER--Writing in Salon.com, aviation writer Phaedra Hise, a small plane pilot herself, discusses the conclusion of the federal National Transportation Safety Board report on the July 16, 1999 fatal crash of John F. Kennedy, Jr.'s Saratoga Piper Cub. NTSB called it pilot error "failure to maintain control of the airplane during a descent over water at night, which was the result of spatial disorientation." Writer Hiss asks: "Did Kennedy attempt a solo night flight too soon?"
