It’s a bold
impresario who schedules a pool party in what is traditionally San Diego’s
overcast June gloom.**
But that’s
what sponsors Green Flash Brewery along with West Coaster craft beer magazine and the venerable La Fayette Hotel
have scheduled for Pops Day, June 19 between noon to 5 pm.
Billed as a
beer lovers pool party—Dad bod edition,
the event offers prizes, giveaways, live music and all for a $15 entry
tab. On this day, Dads get in free. Admission also covers first beer. And, there will be a tap take over by Alpine
Brewery.
If you
haven’t been to the La Fayette pool you’re definitely in for a good time as the
entire hotel is true to its 1946 architectural roots. The Olympic sized pool is surrounded by cool
cabanas.
Forget your
sunscreen because that will make sure the sun will make an appearance.

** For you Zonies (tourists) in the crowd, June gloom is
when cooler Ocean breezes are blocked by rising heat from the desert causing gray
cloud cover in late May and throughout June.
When the ocean warms up (usually by late July) then San Diego’s summer
begins and lasts through October.
