Mark J. Rochester, a nationally respected reporter, editor and newsroom leader, will be joining inewsource April 1. He is currently Editor-in-Chief at Type Investigations, a nonprofit newsroom in Manhattan.
Mark is committed to our mission and the journalism inewsource produces: high quality, data-driven, impactful reporting that changes laws and lives in the San Diego region. Mark is excited about our ambitious growth plan and the opportunity to make a difference in the diverse communities in San Diego and Imperial counties.
He is also a leader in initiatives that help to grow the journalists of the future, particularly those of color.
Current Managing Editor, Laura Wingard is planning to retire this summer and is thrilled to work with Mark through the next few months of transition. Laura’s leadership and her commitment to our reporters and community have allowed us to make an impact.
inewsource launched in 2009, amid a deep recession and a catastrophic downsizing of newspapers and network media in San Diego and across the country. Some of the greatest casualties of the disruption were investigative journalists, bulldogs in the industry whose passion was uncovering wrongs and wrongdoers in the name of the public good.
