METROPOLIS RESTORED
EPIC EXPRESSIONIST FILM--As part of its First Fridays Film Series, the San Diego Museum of Art screens Metropolis, a restored version of the original 1927 silent film. Shown at the SDMA’s Copley Auditorium in Balboa Park, the 8 pm showing will be preceded by a 7 pm lecture on German Impressionism by Dr. Nicolas Reveles, Director of Education for the San Diego Opera.

German Expressionism involved many art forms, from printmaking to film, music to dance. Metropolis, an iconic Expressionist film depicting the struggle between classes in a dystopian future, was directed by Fritz Lang.
Box Office: $5 members, students, military, seniors /$10 nonmembers.
