THE BREWSPAPER / WEST COASTER MAGAZINE’S AUGUST CRAFT BEER HAPPENINGS

Can't go wrong with a Benchmark party at Hamilton's Tavern

The weather isn’t cooling down, nor is the local beer atmosphere. Plenty of ale- and lager-fueled events are taking place this month. Take a look at the featured goings-on below, then head to our events page for even more pint nights, beer dinners and festivals.

August 3 & 25 | Benchmark Brewing Events: You can get to know the beers of Benchmark Brewing by hitting up a sudsy showcase at Hamilton’s Tavern or by attending one of the Grantville-based brewery’s popular guided tours with co-owner and brewmaster Matt Akin at its tasting room. Either way, you’re in for a tasty tasting experience. | Hamilton’s Tavern, 1521 30th Street, South Park, 3 p.m.; Benchmark Brewing, 6190 Fairmount Avenue, Suite G, Grantville, 1 p.m.

August 11 | Padres Party Bus: As many an beer-industry vet know, there ain’t no party like a Pizza Port party…especially when a bus is involved. Enjoy Pizza Port beers during a magical ride from the company’s Bressi Ranch brewpub to Petco Park, where a barbecue tailgate party and Padres game await. Bonus: It’s beach-towel giveaway night! | Pizza Port, 2730 Gateway Road, Carlsbad, 2 p.m.

August 11 | Anniversary Celebrations: In celebration of 11 years in business, New English Brewing will tap a board of varied brews and have on-site Mexican food, while Bay City Brewing will eclipse year three by releasing a hazy double IPA and 12-ounce cans of its 72 and Hoppy session IPA. Pick your pony and ride it to your party of choice. | New English Brewing, 11545 Sorrento Valley Road, #305, Sorrento Valley, 12 p.m.; Bay City Brewing, 3760 Hancock Street, Point Loma, 12 p.m.

August 17 & 18 | 22nd Anniversary Celebration: They may be one of the older breweries in San Diego County, but Stone Brewing can still party like a freshly-minted 21-year-old. Once again, Team Stone will take over the CSUSM campus, turning it into a beery wonderland for a Friday-night brewer’s reception and all-out, dual-session Saturday festival. | California State University—San Marcos, 333 South Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos, Times Vary
