a Roya (Spanish for rust) is infecting coffee plants in the America’s causing damage to a multi-billion dollar industry. 

 Tens of thousands of small farms across Central and South America, coffee plants are stumbling under the assault of rust. 

 Coffee plants were supposed to be safe on this side of the Atlantic, but sadly the fungus found them. 

 Maryn McKenna wrote in a recent issue of The Atlantic Magazine “Coffee Rust Is Going to Ruin Your Morning.” 

 Growers decades ago found ways to combat La Roya but the fungus is fighting off farmers’ previous defenses. 

 Is there hope? Should we start switching to tea?
